Job summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Automation Engineer to accelerate our tech transformation. You will build and maintain automation tooling for private cloud operations and fleet management, focusing on scalable, resilient architectures.

You will partner with OpenStack, storage, and hybrid cloud teams to drive efficiency and reliability. The role requires hands‑on work with Python/Go/Rust, IaC (Ansible, Terraform), and server hardware management, including CPU, GPU, and firmware

Qualifications

• Professional development experience in Python, Go, Rust, or C.
• Familiarity with IaC tools such as Ansible and Terraform in an enterprise private cloud environment.
• Hands‑on experience in OS and firmware management strategies in a private cloud environment.
• Hands‑on experience in systems/server management with Redfish, BMC, and IPMI for remote hardware management.
• Familiarity with server hardware architecture (CPU, chipset, storage, GPU) and interoperability standards.
• Understanding of OpenStack and success in elevating server fleet management and automation.
• Experience implementing logging and dashboards with Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki.
• Industry certifications in hardware engineering, firmware management, or data center ops are beneficial.
• Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth.

Responsibilities

• Drive automation of OS and firmware update strategies to ensure stability and security.
• Develop tools for automated testing of servers and OS images.
• Monitor server fleet health and performance, focusing on upgrades and proactive maintenance.
• Create automation scripts and tools using IaC (Ansible, Terraform) and languages like Python, Go, or Rust.
• Collaborate with OpenStack, Storage (ceph), and Hybrid Cloud teams to align automation needs.
• Develop hardware lifecycle strategies from procurement to decommissioning.
• Track industry innovations in CPU, chipset, storage, GPU, firmware, and BMC to lead adoption.
