Job summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced infrastructure automation engineer to join our Infrastructure Automation Tools team in Richardson, TX, helping drive our tech transformation from traditional IT to engineering excellence through automation, IaC, and resilient architectures for private cloud, hardware fleet and network.

You will develop automation scripts using Python, Go, or Rust, work with Ansible and Terraform, collaborate with OpenStack and storage teams, and contribute to monitoring and fleet

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
• Strong knowledge of Python, Go, or Rust and experience with infrastructure automation tooling (IaC).
• Hands-on experience with OS and firmware management in private cloud environments and server hardware management.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation of OS and firmware update strategies across the fleet, ensuring testing, stability, performance, security, and remote management.
• Develop tools and processes for automated testing of servers and OS images.
• Build tools to monitor fleet health and performance, focusing on upgrades and proactive maintenance; respond to hardware/firmware anomalies.
• Create automation scripts/tools for fleet management using IaC (Ansible, Terraform) and languages like Python, Go, Rust.
• Collaborate with OpenStack, Storage (ceph), and Hybrid Cloud teams to align automation needs with private cloud goals.
