Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift/container platform across US locations. You will drive IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, reduce manual installs, and support OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud feasibility studies.

Remote work is allowed occasionally, with on-site presence within 50 miles of Arlington, VA or other listed bases. Candidates must have DoD clearance and hands-on OpenShift administration on bare metal.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years with BS/BA; 6+ years with MS/MA.
• Hands-on experience deploying and administering OpenShift or enterprise Kubernetes on bare metal.
• Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Ansible for provisioning and configuration management.
• Experience with virtualization/cloud orchestration platforms (Spectro Cloud, VMware, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of container platform architecture: networking, storage, security, lifecycle management.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification.

Responsibilities

• Stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift/container platform.
• Design and implement IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible.
• Assess OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud feasibility and document licensing tradeoffs.
• Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle: install, upgrade, patch, scale, day-2 ops.
• Deploy core platform services and enforce cybersecurity compliance.
• Monitor platform health with observability tools and handle logging/alerts.
