Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform, drive IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, and support lifecycle management and security compliance across multiple US locations. The role offers occasional telework with travel within the listed bases and strong emphasis on documented architecture and CI/CD practices.

Candidate must have extensive Kubernetes/OpenShift experience, DoD clearance, and a background in Linux on bare

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA
5+ years of platform/systems engineering experience with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience
US Citizenship required
Active DoD Secret clearance required
DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification
Hands-on experience deploying and administering OpenShift on bare metal
IaC proficiency with Terraform and Ansible
Experience with virtualization/cloud orchestration platforms such as Spectro Cloud or VMware

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters
Design and implement infrastructure-as-code provisioning using Terraform and Ansible
Assess OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud and document licensing and operability tradeoffs
Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle including installation, upgrades, and day-2 operations
Deploy core platform services including DNS (PowerDNS)
Enforce STIGs and cybersecurity requirements on platform infrastructure
Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity with observability tools
Document architecture and provisioning decisions and transition to IaC
