Job summary

Peraton seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform across multiple locations. You will drive IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, assess OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud, and manage lifecycle, monitoring, and core services.

The role requires deep Linux administration, DoD security credentials, and the ability to document architecture and operational decisions. Some telework is possible within proximity to designated sites.

Qualifications

• 12+ years general work experience with BS/BA; 10+ years with MS/MA; 7+ years with Ph.D.
• 5+ years of platform/systems engineering experience with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience
• US Citizenship
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification
• Hands-on experience deploying and administering OpenShift on bare metal
• IaC proficiency with Terraform and Ansible
• Working knowledge of virtualization/cloud orchestration platforms (Spectro Cloud, VMware)
• Understanding of container platform architecture: networking, storage, security, lifecycle management
• Ability to document platform architecture, licensing tradeoffs, and operational considerations
• Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL)
• Regular/recurring physical access to a DISA SIPR-accredited facility

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters
• Design and implement IaC provisioning using Terraform and Ansible
• Support feasibility assessment of OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud
• Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle including installation, upgrades, patching, scaling
• Deploy and support core platform services including DNS
• Enforce STIGs and cybersecurity requirements on platform infrastructure
• Monitor platform health and capacity; manage logging and alerts
• Support OCONUS hardware bootstrap activities
• Document platform architecture and procedures
• Transition provisioning from manual installs toward full IaC model
