Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform, support an assessment between OpenShift and Spectro Cloud, and drive IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible in a security-conscious DoD environment.

This role allows occasional telework, but candidates must reside within 50 miles of listed work locations and have US citizenship with an active DoD secret clearance to manage platform lifecycle and security posture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA
• 5+ years of platform/systems engineering experience with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience
• US Citizenship required
• Active DoD Secret clearance required
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification
• Hands-on experience deploying and administering OpenShift (or other enterprise Kubernetes) on bare metal
• IaC proficiency with Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with virtualization/cloud orchestration platforms (Spectro Cloud, VMware)
• Understanding of container platform architecture: networking, storage, security, lifecycle management
• Regular/recurring physical access to a DISA SIPR-accredited facility

Responsibilities

• Stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform
• Conduct feasibility assessment of OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud
• Drive transition to IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible
• Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle: install, upgrades, patching, scaling, day-2 operations
• Deploy and support core platform services including DNS (PowerDNS)
• Enforce STIGs and cybersecurity requirements on platform
• Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity with observability tools
• Support OCONUS hardware bootstrap activities
• Document platform architecture and operational procedures
• Transition provisioning from manual installs to IaC-managed model
