Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform, drive IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, and reduce manual installations over time. This role requires strong Kubernetes experience and a DoD clearance, with occasional telework allowed and proximity to multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum general work experience with BS/BA; more with MS/MA or PhD.
• 5+ years of platform/systems engineering with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience.
• US Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification.
• Hands-on OpenShift/bare-metal deployment experience.
• IaC proficiency with Terraform and Ansible.
• Knowledge of virtualization/orchestration platforms like Spectro Cloud/VMware.
• Understanding of container platform architecture, networking and storage.
• Strong Linux (RHEL) administration skills.
• Regular access to a DISA SIPR-accredited facility.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters.
• Design and implement IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible.
• Assess OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud with licensing and operability considerations.
• Manage OpenShift lifecycle: install, upgrades, patching, scaling, day-2 ops.
• Deploy core platform services including DNS (PowerDNS).
• Enforce cybersecurity requirements and STIGs on platform infra.
• Monitor health with observability tools and log management.
• Support OCONUS hardware bootstrap activities.
• Document platform architecture and operational procedures.
• Transition provisioning from manual to IaC-based model.
