Element by Marriott Richmond Short Pump is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead the opening team for a brand‑new hotel in Short Pump, VA. You will collaborate with the General Manager to stabilize operations, build standards, and develop a high‑performing team across Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Engineering, Sales, and Revenue Management.

The role requires proven hotel leadership, strong operational judgment, and a hands‑on management style.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel leadership experience required
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience within a hotel environment preferred
• Strong working knowledge of hotel operations
• Experience supervising and developing employees
• Strong guest‑service and problem‑solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work a flexible leadership schedule
• Ability to work weekends and holidays based on business needs
• Ability to serve as Manager on Duty as required

Responsibilities

• Lead the hotel operation during opening and stabilization phases
• Establish procedures, standards, and expectations for a brand‑new hotel
• Provide hands‑on leadership across all departments
• Recruit, onboard, train, and develop hotel associates
• Coach department leaders and foster a positive workplace culture
• Monitor guest feedback and drive service recovery and improvements
• Think and act with ownership across budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
• Collaborate with Sales & Revenue to understand demand and opportunities
