The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of NewEngland College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications fromindividuals with a record of innovative biomedical research andinterest, experience, and enthusiasm for teaching in an integratedcurriculum with a team of biomedical and clinical faculty.
Candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and possess thedesire to develop skills in this area. Experience with case-basedteaching in a non-lecture format is preferred.
The successful hire will advance the missions of the UNE Center forCell Signaling Research (CCSR; https://www.une.edu/research/center-cell-signaling-research)and COM by developing a strong and collaborative research program in cellular signaling mechanisms or complementary areas relevant tohealth, disease, and therapeutic innovation. A goal for thisposition is to have the successful candidate develop the capacity to serve as one of the next generation of Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) Research Project Leaders (RPLs). Theresearcher will contribute to a vibrant interdisciplinary researchenvironment that integrates biomedical discovery with theeducational focus of UNE.
The successful applicant will be offered a start-up package to establish their research program at the university, including but not limited to laboratory space and reassign time to foster successof research endeavors.
Candidates for the tenure-track would have responsibilities inresearch, teaching, and university/college/departmental services.The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent,novel research program, display a commitment to excellence inteaching by participating in medical student teaching. Continuationof funding is required for this track. Candidates with researchinterests in a biomedical science topic as it relates to cellsignaling, aging, or metabolism, particularly in relation to humandisease, are preferred. UNE has strengths in neuroscience,with a collaborative group of neuroscience investigators examiningthe neurobiology of pain across a variety of pre-clinical models, using sophisticated imaging, molecular, and behavioral analyses.Additional strengths in research include anatomy, cell signaling,metabolic diseases, immunology and infectious diseases, and medicaleducation. Research space is available, with access to sharedinstrumentation and core facilities with highly-trained staff forcomprehensive imaging and histology approaches, behavioralanalysis, and in vitro analytical services.

The CCSR isfunded by a phase 1 NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence(COBRE) award, and provides research infrastructure, funding, andprofessional development mentoring for COBRE Research ProjectLeaders (RPLs) and the larger UNE research community.
