Job summary

Hudbay seeks an experienced Mine Operations Superintendent to lead daily open-pit copper extraction, optimize fleet productivity, and manage budgets while promoting a zero-harm safety culture. You will coordinate with engineering, geology, maintenance, and processing to maximize mine-to-mill productivity.

The role requires strong leadership, a BS in mining/geological engineering, 10–12 years in open-pit mining, and 3–5 years in senior supervision.

Qualifications

• BS in Mining/Geological Engineering or equivalent with leadership experience.
• 10–12 years in open-pit hard-rock mining operations (copper, gold, base metals preferred).
• 3–5 years in a senior leadership or supervisory role (e.g., Shift Superintendent).
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct all day-to-day open-pit mining activities (loading/haulage/maintenance).
• Lead production planning and ensure alignment with short- and medium-term mine plans.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase fleet efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
• Oversee safety, environmental controls, audits, and regulatory compliance.
