Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support surgeon-directed operative and invasive procedures in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or Certification in Surgical Technology and BLS certification within 3 months. At least 1 year of experience is highly preferred, with responsibilities spanning sterile field setup, instrument management, and intraoperative collaboration with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate in Surgical Technology is required.
• BLS certification within 3 months (American Heart Association).
• 1+ years of surgical technology experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific operative/invasive procedures with timely accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and be scrubbed prior to induction.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand for case; ensure items are available.
• Use resources wisely; avoid unnecessary openings and maintain smooth motions.
• Anticipate case needs and coordinate with surgeon; adapt as needed.
• Run mayo independently and adapt technique to surgeon's preferences.
• Assist in sequencing and case closing activities including dressing, transfer and turnover.
• Communicate clearly with circulating RN; contribute to unit operations and quality improvement.
