Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time OPD Clinic Manager / TH Senior Staff Assistant for Suite R. You will oversee daily Registrar operations, ensure adequate staffing, and monitor billing and encounter data to maximize reimbursement.

The role requires supervisory healthcare experience, knowledge of medical billing, and adherence to HIPAA and related regulations. Strong coordination with Nursing, Physicians, and the Director is essential for smooth clinic flow.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
• Prior experience with healthcare/hospital medical billing.
• Knowledge of third-party insurance.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the daily management and supervision of the Registrars.
• Provide adequate staffing to prevent delays in patient care/flow.
• Monitor reports to ensure corrections are updated in Eagle/AIIScript within 7 days.
• Ensure ongoing staff training on registration protocol and billing updates.
• Review accounts for referrals/authorizations to maximize hospital reimbursement.
• Monitor daily reconciliation of encounter forms/visit detail listing reports.
• Determine staffing needs in clinics/suites and satellite areas.
• Coordinate department activities for efficient patient flow.
• Educate staff on policy and procedure and HIPAA compliance.
