Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks an OPD Clinic Manager, Suite R, to lead the Registrars and optimize patient flow in a busy ambulatory setting in Brooklyn.

You will oversee staffing, billing accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations, while partnering with Nursing, Physicians and the Director to ensure high-quality patient service and maximum reimbursement. This is a full-time day shift role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; related field preferred.
• 3–5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience with healthcare/hospital medical billing.
• Knowledge of third-party insurance and billing practices.
• Equivalency combination of experience, education and training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise Registrars daily to ensure smooth flow.
• Ensure adequate staffing to prevent delays in patient care.
• Monitor billing corrections within 7 days in Eagle/AllScript.
• Train staff on registration protocols and billing updates.
• Review accounts for referrals/authorizations to maximize reimbursement.
• Oversee reconciliation of encounter forms and detail listings.
• Determine staffing needs across clinics and suites for patient flow.
• Communicate with staff and educate on policy/procedure.
• Maintain data quality and correct errors in systems to reduce AR.
• Ensure visits are closed timely with proper codes.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes (HIPAA, etc.) and ensure compliance.
• Provide support to the Director and coordinate with Nursing/Physicians.
• Conduct monthly staff meetings and coordinate workflow.
• Complete projects within timelines and provide feedback.
