Job summary

Norfolk Iron & Metal is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to support procurement of steel products, monitor inventory, and maintain accurate purchasing records in the ERP system. This on-site role collaborates with logistics to ensure timely, cost-effective operations across our network.

You will design truck routes across multiple geographies, dispatch drivers in the TMW System, and work with branch sales and dispatchers to assemble loads that meet delivery dates, product types, customer

Qualifications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

Assist the Product Manager in the procurement of steel products, including but not limited to: coil, plates, sheets, bars, and tubes.
Monitor and track inventory levels, lead times, and pricing trends to ensure adequate supply and competitive pricing.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchasing activities in purchasing system/ERP.
Work with the logistics department to coordinate the shipment of goods and ensure efficient inventory management.
Design truck routes to multiple geographic areas throughout the country.
Dispatch both employee and commercial drivers within the TMW System.
Work closely with branch sales, dispatchers, and management to compile loads according to many factors, including but not limited to delivery date, types of products, customer expectations, delivery time and DOT regulations that apply to the loading or delivery process.
Rerouting and collaborating with drivers to move and achieve maximum amount of efficiency between stops.
Perform clerical tasks, data entry, answer phone calls, and respond and resolve issues that come up.
