Job summary

MasTec Renewables is seeking a Project Subcontracts Specialist to manage subcontract agreements for utility-scale solar and wind projects. This site-based role requires close collaboration with Project Management, Construction, Procurement, Commercial, and Legal teams to ensure compliance, performance, and risk mitigation on each project.

You will travel across the U.S. to project sites, with 8-16 months on average per project, and receive a per diem to support living expenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience administering construction subcontracts on large projects.
• 3+ years of field-based contract management experience.
• Experience with renewable energy projects preferred.
• Experience with subcontract negotiations, change management, and dispute resolution.
• Experience using construction CM systems (e.g., Procore, Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Administer subcontract agreements for utility-scale solar or wind construction projects from mobilization through project closeout.
• Serve as the primary onsite commercial representative for subcontractors assigned to the project.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with contractual obligations, scope requirements, schedule milestones, and commercial terms.
• Proactively identify risk and propose strategies to reduce threats and maximize opportunities.
• Draft, review, and issue contractual notices related to performance deficiencies, delays, disruptions, safety violations, scope changes, and other contract matters.
• Collaborate with Project Management and Construction teams to identify, document, and evaluate subcontractor change events and claims.
• Manage subcontract change order processes including scope validation, pricing reviews, negotiation support, approvals, and execution.
• Track subcontractor commercial performance, earned value, contract balances, pending changes, back charges, and claims.
• Lead commercial meetings with subcontractors to review contract compliance, progress, issues, and risk mitigation actions; support resolution of subcontract disputes and negotiations.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Commercial, Legal, and Project Controls teams to ensure consistent contract administration practices.
• Assist project leadership in identifying and mitigating contractual and commercial risks associated with subcontractor performance.
• Support project closeout activities including final account reconciliation, punch lists, warranties, lien releases, and subcontract closeout documentation.
• Capture subcontract administration lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
