Job summary

Magen David Yeshivah in New York is seeking a reliable Maintenance Staff member to maintain the school’s facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and faculty. The role is onsite, full-time, with a Monday–Thursday 8am–5pm and Friday 8am–2pm schedule, including overtime available but not required.

You will perform general maintenance, assist with basic plumbing/electrical work, inspect facilities, and support events.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance or facilities support is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting.
• Ability to identify maintenance issues and know when to seek professional help.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work independently or in a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift and move furniture and perform physical tasks.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs throughout the school, including classrooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other repair tasks within the scope of training and authorization.
• Inspect school facilities and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repair needs.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of classrooms, furniture, equipment, and school events.
• Maintain school grounds and entrances as needed, ensuring they remain safe and presentable.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and storage areas organized and secure.
• Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment when necessary.
• Follow all school safety procedures and use tools and equipment responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with the maintenance team, housekeeping staff, and school administration.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
