Job summary

Atoms is seeking a seasoned Safety Operations lead to own operational safety machinery for our fleet. You will manage incident responses, triage events, and training programs while scaling processes as vehicles and routes grow.

This hands-on role requires writing processes, conducting investigations, and hiring to scale. You will be on-site in San Francisco, coordinating with engineering and safety leadership to drive hazard analysis and change.

Qualifications

• 6-8+ years in safety operations, fleet safety, transportation safety, or operational risk in a safety-critical domain.
• Demonstrated experience leading real incident investigations to root cause and driving corrective actions to closure.
• Fluency with structured investigation and risk methods (root cause analysis, causal factor charting, human factors analysis, hazard identification).

Responsibilities

• Incident management: end-to-end response process, from detection to closure, with clear authority assignment.
• Event triage: build a pipeline from field telemetry and reports to a ranked, actionable queue; manage taxonomy and severity.
• Training and qualification: design the safety driver and operator training programs; maintain qualification records.
• Safety data and reporting: own metrics set and reporting cadence; ensure records withstand scrutiny.
• Feedback into engineering: channel field reality to product through hazard analysis and change assessment.
