Job summary

Mission Design & Automation is seeking a Robotics Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize robotic systems at customer facilities in West Michigan. You’ll receive hands-on training across robotics, maintenance, and troubleshooting while gaining exposure to diverse manufacturing processes and automation tech.

The role requires 50–60% local travel with up to 25% overnight travel; typical hours are 7am–4pm.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in the automation industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with robotics and automation familiarity.
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and BOMs.
• Ability to diagnose complex equipment issues using systematic troubleshooting techniques.
• Resourceful problem solver who can work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair industrial automation systems at customer facilities.
• Diagnose robots and peripheral equipment using systematic troubleshooting methods.
• Provide remote technical support by phone or other platforms.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system audits to maximize reliability.
• Analyze robot performance and implement improvements to optimize system performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Build, and Controls teams during installation at customer sites.
• Support upgrades, retrofits, modifications, and enhancements for existing systems.
• Provide on-site operator, maintenance, and programming training to customers.
