Job summary

Actalent seeks a Highway and Bridge Inspector to monitor and document civil engineering construction on a major interstate interchange reconstruction project. Focused on roadway, bridge, and site inspections with emphasis on safety, quality control, and conformance to project specs.

The inspector works independently on active projects and collaborates with field crews to verify measurements, records, and testing results, while maintaining certifications and accurate weekly reports.

Qualifications

• ACI / FCON (GDOT Concrete Certification) Field Concrete Certificate.
• Minimum of 2+ years of civil inspection experience, roadway/bridge/site civil.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting reinforced concrete construction.
• Ability to understand and interpret construction plans, specifications, and procedures.
• Basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry for inspections.
• Fluent communication in a professional field environment.
• Able to work effectively as a team on active construction sites.
• Proficiency with computers and new software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect civil engineering construction work to verify conformance to project specs.
• Perform field inspection and documentation on various highway/bridge projects.
• Inspect interchange reconstructions including flyovers and bridge widenings.
• Monitor construction of bridges and related structures such as MSE walls and concrete walls.
• Inspect PCC paving, asphalt resurfacing, and rock cuts for safety and specs.
• Document safety conditions daily and address hazards promptly.
• Prepare detailed reports of progress and testing results.
• Maintain inspection records and daily logs; review documentation for completeness.
• Communicate with contractors, clients, and project staff to coordinate inspections.
• Ensure certifications stay current and align with project procedures.
