Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to support highway construction projects across multiple locations in the United States. You will perform inspections of traffic controls, materials and construction methods under direct supervision, and review contractor reports for acceptance or rejection.

Candidate will review testing procedures, measure material quantities and may perform sampling and in‑place testing. Travel 20%–40% may be required depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Review and recommend the acceptance or rejection of daily reports submitted by the contractor, perform inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures and material testing, and verify procedures in conformance with the Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed; may perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
