Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a qualified on-site Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group on highway project sites. The role involves inspecting and monitoring construction activities to ensure adherence to plans, specifications and safety requirements.

Projects include various locations; candidates should be able to read drawings, perform inspections, and communicate findings clearly to supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to evaluate materials, processes, and conformance to plans and specs.
• Uses high-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Works under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment knowledge.
• Reviews drawings to prepare for inspections.
• Understands construction design; documents and communicates inspection results to the supervisor.
