Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine seeks a Radiology Technologist for the Radiology Department in Hyde Park. This 100% onsite role performs diagnostic imaging, applies radiation protection, and provides patient care with professional judgment.

The position requires ARRT certification within one year of hire, IEMA licensure, and CPR certification, with ongoing continuing education to maintain credentials. On-call, weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience.
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program.
• Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire.
• Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
• Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging; uses proper equipment.
• Maintains required continuing education as mandated by ARRT.
• Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills; strong decision-making abilities.
• CPR certification required; knowledge of standard office practices and radiology software.

Responsibilities

• Reviews physician's order to assure appropriateness of examination.
• Selects exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient age, and equipment characteristics.
• Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.
• Performs a variety of diagnostic studies with high quality; ensures correct protocol and diagnostic quality.
• Prepares contrast media and assists with GI/GU studies.
• Upholds UCM mission, values and confidentiality under HIPAA and regulations.
• Interfaces with patients and staff professionally; adheres to AIDET principles.
• Maintains imaging data integrity in PACS and RIS; may train technologists and students.
• Rotating on-call, weekends and holidays are required.
