Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Wilmington, DE is seeking an Associate Scientist, Purification Process Science to support downstream process development for therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and bispecifics, on a fully onsite basis at the customer site.

The role emphasizes purification process development, optimization, scale-up, and analytical support, with responsibilities including protein purification, buffer prep, in-process analysis, and collaboration with formulation and cell culture teams.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, chemistry or related field, preferably with up to 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Equivalency may be considered with education, training and/or related experience.
• Basic knowledge in protein chemistry and bioprocessing.
• Hands-on experiences in chromatography (affinity, size exclusion, ion exchanges, multi-mode) and filtration.
• Experience with protein analysis methods (HPLC, ELISA, pH/Conductivity/A280).
• Experience with ultrafiltration/diafiltration is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform or aid in purification process development, optimization, and scale-up manufacturing.
• Support formulation team's material needs and cell culture development.
• Perform routine analyses of in-process samples using relevant product purity and process impurity analytical tools.
• Prepare buffers and solutions needed for laboratory work.
• Present work summary in a weekly group meeting.
• Write routine electronic laboratory notebook entries.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
