Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America seeks a Project Engineer Intern to assist the project team from preconstruction through closeout. The role covers site logistics, subcontractor coordination, field inspections, quality control, schedule management, estimating, BIM/VDc, safety and document control.

Qualifications

• Education background in materials and methods of construction.
• Pursuit of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
• Familiar with CSI specification system for construction.
• Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation.
• Patience, professionalism and ability to maintain a cooperative attitude under pressure.
• Skill in handling several work activities at once while frequently interrupted.
• Training in design document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
• Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
• Experience with critical path scheduling software such as Suretrack and Primavera; experience with AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation of blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
• Drafting meeting minutes, schedules, and checklists.
• Handle RFIs and change documents from other offices.
• Organize and file records.
• Field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
• Store and retrieve information via computers.
• Serve as on-site technical advisor.
• Access all areas of the construction site for progress review.
• Communicate clearly in speech and writing.
