Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomist at Benedict Draw Station in Worcester, MA for a 40-hour day shift. This on-site role involves venipuncture, EKGs, and specimen processing to support inpatients and outpatients.

You will prepare ABN when necessary, ensure Medical Necessity guidelines are met, and maintain quality control of testing and equipment while upholding the health system's standards of respect and patient care.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with phlebotomy training or documented experience.
• BLS certification within 3 months of employment.
• Flexibility to travel to other locations and campuses as needed.
• Available to work inclement weather adjustments and variable schedules.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy procedures using appropriate equipment.
• Review requisitions to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity.
• Prepares ABN for tests that do not meet Medical Necessity guidelines with signatures.
• Performs EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as required.
• Processes specimens including centrifugation, labeling and packaging.
• Provides patient data and insurance information for specimen registration.
