Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary collection, and to conduct EKG and POCT as required. The role is on-site, full-time, with variable shifts including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, preparing ABN when needed, and processing specimens. A high school diploma with phlebotomy training and BLS certification are required, with travel to other campuses possible.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with phlebotomy training or documented phlebotomy experience.
• BLS certification within 3 months of employment.
• Ability to perform venipuncture/capillary collection; EKG and POCT experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel to other locations as needed by the department.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary methods.
• Performs EKG, pulse oximetry and POCT as required.
• Review requisitions to ensure proper tests are drawn and authorised.
• Prepare ABN for tests not meeting Medical Necessity and obtain signatures.
• Process specimens (centrifugation, labeling, packaging) and register as needed.
