Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a non-exempt Phlebotomist in Worcester to collect blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods and to perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing for both inpatients and outpatients. Schedule includes holidays every other holiday, weekends every other weekend, with three 4-hour shifts from 5am to 9am and one 8-hour shift every other Saturday and Sunday.

The position offers a pay range of $20.32–$38.17 per hour; final offer depends on experience

Qualifications

• High School graduate with phlebotomy training.
• BLS certification within 3 months of employment.
• Prior phlebotomy experience preferred or required by role.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy on patients using standard equipment.
• Reviews physician orders to ensure correct tests are drawn and meet medical necessity guidelines.
• Prepares ABN for tests that do not meet guidelines and obtains signatures.
• Performs EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as requested and maintains instrument QC.
• Handles specimen processing including labeling, centrifugation, and packaging.
• Collects and enters patient demographics and test information into the LIS/ADT system.
• Monitors inventory levels and ensures adequate supplies are stocked.
