Job summary

MNP, LLC, a Fontana Gruppo Company, is seeking a Payroll Assistant to support payroll operations onsite in Utica, Michigan. You will process payroll, maintain employee records, and ensure compliance with tax and wage regulations while assisting the HR team.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of payroll experience, strong Excel/Word/Outlook skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with staff. This role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in creating positive written communications.
• Experience working in a team.
• Knowledge of payroll laws.
• Excellent computer skills especially with Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Processing payroll, weekly and biweekly, including hourly and salaried employees.
• Reconciling timekeeping data, resolve missed punches and discrepancies with supervisors and others.
• Entering and maintaining new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, etc.
• Maintaining accurate vacation, sick time and other leave balances in accordance with company policies.
• Processing benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, child support orders, etc.
• Year-end paperwork including W-2 preparation and other tax related activities.
• Responding to employee questions about pay and deductions.
• Verification of employment, unemployment claims and related documentation.
• Safeguarding sensitive employee information and following wage and hour requirements.
• Supporting additional HR functions and events; cross-training in other HR functions.
• Demonstrating MNP's core values of humility, dedication, compassion, trust and integrity in daily work.
