Job summary

Prism Vision Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant at the NJRetina practice in Lawrenceville, NJ. This onsite, non-exempt role involves performing ophthalmic tests and assisting physicians to support accurate diagnoses and treatments.

You will document information, manage patient flow, and assist with education while maintaining compliance with standards and regulations. Prior ophthalmic experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Perform testing (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Conduct lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment.
• Enter data into EMR or paper charts as scribe.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and patient flow.
• Ensure informed consent and adhere to protocols and regulations.
• Provide patient education and support.
