Job summary

Prism Vision Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant for an onsite role at South Jersey Eye Physicians in Columbus, NJ. You will perform pre-exam measurements and tests to aid physicians in diagnosing and treating patients.

Responsibilities include chart review, history taking, testing (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry), scribe duties, medication administration, and ensuring compliance with informed consent and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Perform tests such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, and biometry.
• Conduct lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Assist as scribe, entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Ensure procedures comply with protocols and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and manage patient flow; maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Report errors as needed and maintain professional conduct.
