Job summary

Mental Health America of South Central Kansas is seeking an Accountant to coordinate and perform accounting, reporting, reconciliation, cash-management, and financial-control activities. You will collaborate with accounting staff and the Controller to ensure accurate records and timely reporting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and experience with general ledger, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
• Progressively responsible accounting experience involving general ledger, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit/grant reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; ability to learn accounting software and information systems.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, documentation, problem-solving, organization, communication, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with preparation of financial statements, reports, analyses, and information reports for review with department leaders.
• Oversees accounts payable processing, general-ledger activity, account maintenance, and related data entry.
• Completes monthly bank reconciliations and reconciles balance-sheet accounts and subsidiary records.
• Monitors daily cash requirements and supports informed financial decision-making.
• Maintains accounting-related software and supporting systems; ensures proper records and safeguards.
