Job summary

Alliance on Aging in Salinas, CA is hiring an Accountant & Data Analyst for an onsite, part-time role. The position focuses on day-to-day accounting support plus grant management and data analysis for funding reports.

Working about 28 hours per week with the CFO and roughly 12 hours supporting executive leadership as Administrative Assistant within grant management and front office duties, the role ensures accurate ledgers and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• At least 2–3 years nonprofit bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Experience with account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with CFO and team.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely general ledger records.
• Enter and categorize financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Prepare and process invoices, payments, deposits, and routine accounting transactions.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Maintain organized and complete financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
