Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA seeks a Network Security Engineer I for onsite design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security solutions. You will conduct vulnerability scans, assess threats, and manage host-based security across the health system with emphasis on firewall uptime and secure VPN access.

The ideal candidate has 3–4 years of experience with security technologies, policy enforcement, and some cloud experience (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s preferred in CS/IS or related field.
• 3-4 years working knowledge of technical security solutions (Firewalls, NIDS/HIDS, SIEM, Endpoint Protection, Email Security, MFA, etc.)
• 3-4 years enforcing security policies to safeguard data and systems from cyber attacks
• 1 year Azure and/or AWS cloud experience preferred
• 2 years broad technical security knowledge of networking, Windows and Linux operating systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct and analyze vulnerability scans (hosts and network).
• Perform network security threat/impact assessments.
• Oversee host-based security: antivirus, HIPS, data loss prevention, rogue system detection.
• Respond to malware reports and assist in protective/anti-malware measures.
• Enforce computer and network security processes.
• Define requirements for new systems and security infrastructure with management and staff.
• Ensure maximum uptime for Firewalls, Endpoint protection and VPNs.
• Design highly secure infrastructure for uptime and performance.
