Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking a Manufacturing Technical Trainer for 1st shift onsite in Durham, NC. You will lead onboarding, hands-on and classroom training for Technicians I–Senior, aligning safety, quality and production expectations.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred), 4+ years in a technical manufacturing setting, and strong communication and coaching skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in a technical/manufacturing/engineering field preferred.
• 4+ years in a manufacturing, electrical, or technical environment (switchgear, power generation, or similar)
• Experience in training, coaching, onboarding, or workforce development preferred
• Experience developing or delivering structured training programs preferred
• Ability to work cross-functionally with production leadership
• Strong knowledge of electrical/mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools and safe operation
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (classroom and hands-on)
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead structured onboarding programs for new technicians
• Deliver hands-on and classroom training on mechanical and electrical assembly processes
• Ensure new hires reach baseline competency in safety, quality, and production standards
• Create a positive and engaging onboarding experience for new employees
• Conduct ongoing training for technicians at all levels
• Support skill progression from Technician I through Senior Technician
• Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and training needs
• Develop and maintain training materials, work instructions, and standard work
• Continuously improve training programs using feedback, performance data, and production needs
• Support rollout of new processes, products, and changes through training initiatives
• Model and reinforce professional standards
• Ensure training aligns with safety policies and quality requirements
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to workforce capability
• Track and document training progress and skill development
• Ensure employee readiness before transitioning to independent work
