Onsite Manufacturing EHS Specialist: Safety Leader

Job summary

IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to safeguard our workforce and community across the manufacturing lifecycle at Mansfield, Ohio. You will be the active safety presence on the production floor, embedding safety policies and environmental workflows into daily activities.

Reporting to the QMS & Compliance Manager, you will lead incident investigations, develop EHS policies, and train staff while complying with NOFORN/CUI constraints and OSHA/EPA standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of EHS in a manufacturing setting
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA general industry regulations and EPA standards
• EHS certifications (ASP, CSP, OSHA 30) are highly desired but not required
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field is desired
• Strong root cause analysis and meticulous record-keeping skills
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; ability to interpret SDS and regulatory texts

Responsibilities

• Ensure OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and manuals.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, JHAs, and risk assessments.
• Lead workplace incident investigations and track corrective actions to closure.
• Maintain EHS documentation and compliance records.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programs for all facility employees.
• Monitor environmental metrics, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.
• Support regulatory environmental audits and interface with government agencies.
• Enforce safety policies consistently across the company.
• Collaborate with production to integrate safety and ergonomics into daily operations.
• Participate in management reviews of the EHS systems for continuous improvement.
• Maintain active, visible presence on the production floor as SME for plant safety.
