Job summary

Actalent in Durham, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to define and sustain safe, cost-effective manufacturing equipment and processes on the production floor and in the office. You will collaborate with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to drive improvements and meet customer specifications.

The role emphasizes developing tooling, standards, and work instructions, performing time studies, and supporting safety initiatives to improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Background in manufacturing processes including flow, layouts, assembly, machining, and tooling.
• Knowledge of manufacturing/process engineering and process improvement principles.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to new ideas.
• Quality-focused mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Define, research, develop, justify, implement, and sustain safe, cost-efficient manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Design, modify, and implement new or updated equipment and tooling.
• Provide recommendations on safety, manufacturability, and product quality for decisions.
• Communicate with internal and external customers and meet project deadlines.
• Lead small projects interfacing with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse.
• Develop and justify new machinery, equipment, tooling, and automation specifications.
• Analyze requests for changes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs.
• Create and modify work instructions to standardize work.
