Job summary

The Retina Care Center, York, PA office (part of Prism Vision Group) seeks a Lead Ophthalmic Assistant to supervise daily team operations and ensure high-quality patient care onsite.

You will coordinate clinical activities, assist physicians in complex procedures, review charts, take ocular and systemic histories, perform tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry), manage patient flow, and maintain exam-room readiness while upholding regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years ophthalmic assistant experience, with 2+ years of on-floor leadership.
• Strong clinical knowledge and ability to supervise a team in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the team to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care.
• Assist physician in complex procedures and advanced diagnostic testing.
• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Capture ocular and systemic histories and record visual acuity.
• Perform exams and tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Conduct slit lamp exams, tonometry, and related assessments.
• Serve as primary contact for the team and act as scribe when needed.
• Administer topical or oral medications.
• Ensure informed consent and patient education.
• Oversee patient flow and maintain exam room cleanliness and order.
• Collaborate with clinic manager and physicians to identify improvements.
