Prism Vision Group is seeking a Lead Ophthalmic Assistant for our Retina Care Center in Baltimore, MD. This onsite, non-exempt role guides day-to-day team operations and supports physicians in complex procedures and diagnostic testing.

Qualifications

  • Education: GED/HS diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years as ophthalmic assistant; 2+ years leading on the floor.
  • Clinical knowledge: proficient with ophthalmic testing and EMR/documentation workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate team activities to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Assist physician in complex procedures and advanced diagnostic testing.
  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Record patient history and visual acuity; perform required testing.
  • Administer medications as directed and ensure informed consent.
  • Maintain patient flow and clinic room hygiene throughout the day.
  • Serve as scribe and interface between physician and team.
  • Collaborate with clinic manager to identify improvement opportunities.
