Onsite IT Field Engineer – Networking & Support

Job summary

VC3 is seeking an IT Field Engineer I to deliver hands-on support at client sites in the Minneapolis area. You’ll resolve hardware, software, and network issues, install new hardware, and guide customers on IT best practices.

The role emphasizes reliability, timely communication, and collaboration with VC3 teams to ensure customer success. On-site travel and occasional on-call duties are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant technical experience OR 1 year in VC3 Service Technician I or II roles at VC3

Responsibilities

• Drive to client sites as scheduled and communicate delays to the Service Coordinator
• Install and set up new computer hardware, software and peripherals
• Troubleshoot and resolve onsite issues related to workstations and printers
• Collaborate with VC3 staff on connectivity issues including ISPs, wireless networks, DHCP, DNS, and remote access technologies (VPN, RDS, Citrix)
• Educate and guide VC3 clients on technical standards and best practices
• Identify recurring issues and initiate problem tickets
• Make recommendations to the VC3 team for improvements of supported hardware and software
• Maintain accurate timesheets and notes of troubleshooting and client communication
• Participate in the on-call rotation (1 week every 3-4 months)
• Additional duties as assigned
