Job summary

RTX, an aerospace and defense leader, seeks a Focal Plane Process Engineer in Goleta, CA. The role focuses on maintaining and advancing Infrared Focal Plane Manufacturing, including precision alignment, assembly, and flip chip bonding for large focal plane arrays.

The ideal candidate has a STEM degree with 2+ years in process/manufacturing engineering, plus experience in optics, microelectronics, and cleanroom environments. Onsite work with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience as Process or Manufacturing Engineer in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage process development and improvement projects, including novel processing techniques, yield increases, throughput, and safety improvements.
• Review WIP material, certify operators, disposition out-of-flow material, and hands-on processing of novel detector designs.
• Provide process ownership of flip chip bonding, diamond point turning, precision alignment, or optical coatings.
• Develop requirements and qualification plans for new equipment procurements.
• Work in a cleanroom environment with full coverall garments.
