Job summary

St. PJ’s Children Home in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Human Resource Coordinator for an onsite role. You will handle day-to-day HR operations with a hands-on focus on onboarding, HRIS and employee records, I-9 coordination, and pre-employment activities while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• One year of experience in social services preferred.
• One year+ human resources experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation with a valid driver license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record.
• Valid vehicle insurance.
• Must be able to travel locally up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of HR information at all times.
• Create new hire personnel records, enter data into HRIS, and prepare reports.
• Assist with record maintenance, including I-9 requests.
• Conduct pre-employment background checks per policy, including references.
• Communicate with candidates and provide updates to program managers.
• Coordinate onboarding schedule and requirements with managers and candidates.
• Track vaccination document needs for new hires when applicable.
• Support Recruiting & Engagement Specialist at events as needed.
• Assist with employee functions and year-end events.
• Support pre-hire interviews and New Hire Orientation as requested.
• Schedule and conduct exit interviews.
• Provide technical and operational support to HR Department.
• Assist with review/corrections of timesheets under guidance.
• Assist with workers’ comp paperwork as applicable.
• Remain sensitive to the service population’s cultural/socioeconomic characteristics.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure wellbeing.
• Protect confidentiality of donor/employee information and investigations.
• Adhere to Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral Policy; complete development on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned by HR Generalist/Director/Chief People Officer.
