Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Facilities Engineer for our San Jose, CA office to design, build, activate, and maintain next-generation spacecraft manufacturing facilities. This onsite role requires five days per week in the San Jose office, leading internal projects, coordinating contractors, and ensuring facilities operate reliably and safely.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in MEP/HVAC design or build, strong electrical and power distribution experience, and a track record of managing complex

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing or building MEP and HVAC systems.
  • Experience planning and managing EPC processes for aerospace, industrial, or large commercial construction.
  • Experience with electrical/power distribution systems including transformers, lighting, and grounding.
  • Experience with critical power infrastructure (UPS, generators, ATS).
  • Experience with plumbing design including domestic and process water systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC operation including refrigeration, chillers, boilers, HEPA filtration and air handling equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with technicians and maintain focus on detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal facilities and infrastructure projects from design through commissioning and maintenance.
  • Ensure construction/maintenance complies with applicable standards, codes, and specs.
  • Oversee HVAC, security, fire protection, and other manufacturing infrastructure maintenance.
  • Resolve field design/build conflicts with multiple parties in real time.
  • Support site capital expenditure reviews, approvals, and execution within budget and deadlines.
  • Coordinate permits with local authorities and ensure inspections are completed.
  • Communicate activities and schedules to personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability of new/ modified installations.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and maintain readiness procedures.
