Job summary

Muon Space is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of electrical engineers customizing spacecraft platforms for specific missions. You’ll own electrical deliverables from requirements through design, build, integration, and test, while staying hands-on and reviewing designs with the team.

This hybrid role requires on-site work in San Jose, CA three days per week, with emphasis on leadership and deep technical engagement in avionics, power distribution, and harnessing.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, integrating, or testing complex electrical systems for harsh environments
• 2+ years leading engineering teams
• Experience with avionics, power distribution, harnessing, and hardware/software integration
• Experience with electrical harness design and documentation
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools
• Strong leadership, communication, and ability to balance leadership with hands-on work
• B.S. or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers for mission customization and resourcing across concurrent missions
• Develop early-career engineers through coaching, design feedback, and growth planning
• Own electrical deliverables from requirements through design, build, integration, and test
• Define harness definitions, routing, documentation, and payload electrical interfaces
• Translate customer needs into electrical solutions that reuse common platform hardware
• Review schematics and interface designs, support bring-up, and debug hardware issues to root cause
• Set engineering standards for documentation, ECO/DCO, and test procedures
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams for integration, manufacturability, and test
