Onsite Development Program Manager, Data Center Fit-Out

Job summary

QTS Data Centers seeks a Development Program Manager to lead design, preconstruction, and construction activities for complex data-center projects on-site. You will coordinate with Facilities, Contractors, Designers, Engineers, and Operations to drive schedules, budgets, and risk management.

The role requires deep experience in commercial construction within mission-critical facilities, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures, including management of Lump Sum, Construction Management at Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods from conceptual development through procurement to close out.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for use in communicating program updates to executive level, and Excel to create and maintain site program & individual project budgets.
• Be able to travel up to 25%-50% of the time. Dependent on business needs.
• MBA, Masters in Engineering, Management, or related field desirable.
• Experience with delivery of mission critical data center facilities.
• 7 years of Data Center construction experience and/or 7 years of Client-Developer facing Tenant Fit Out experience.
• Extensive experience with management of MEP trades.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects on a campus(es) and maintain updated budgets, schedules, and status reports for each.
• Maintain daily interface with the tenant that emphasizes the importance of building and maintaining a strong developer-client partnership.
• Skilled at high-level, fast-paced problem solving, including the ability to quickly assess situations, prioritize competing demands, and pivot from one critical issue to another as business needs change.
• Create and communicate updates on development program & project status on a weekly basis suitable for executive level reviews. Effectively present information in a manner to support efficient decision making.
• Work with QTS stakeholders, design, and construction teams to create a master development program for site(s), including a complete campus design solution and capital budget.
• Manage entitlement and permitting needs for each assigned site project(s)
• Implement and manage multi-phased site development plans to achieve time, budget, and quality standards in a predictable fashion.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent professional experience
