Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Technology Services invites applications for a Desktop Services IT Analyst to support the fixIT shop. You will coordinate macOS and Windows break/fix operations and oversee vendor certifications, while delivering friendly, expert service to faculty, staff and students.

The role includes supervising part-time student staff, processing warranty requests and transactions, imaging devices, and maintaining inventories.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, parents, and students needing repairs.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience with student staff.
• Strong initiative and teamwork to accomplish projects and tasks.
• Effective communication, both written and oral, with non-technical users and management.
• Ability to process financial transactions and warranty requests via ticketing system.
• Knowledge of desktop networking technologies and current PC operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates macOS and Windows break/fix operations at the VCU RamTech fixIT shop, ensuring repairs are performed within timeframes.
• Oversees student workers when the Team Lead is not present and maintains vendor certifications (Dell, Apple).
• Processes customer financial transactions, warranty requests, and third-party warranty requests as applicable.
• Provides high level customer service to parents, students, faculty, and staff regarding computer issues.
• Issues student-loaner laptops, updates inventory, and re-images devices as needed.
