Job summary

Trace3 is seeking a Data Center Engineer to provide advanced technical support for client servers, storage, and networking hardware. This on-site role leads escalated issue assessments, performs root-cause analysis, and drives remediation with independent judgment.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years’ experience, CompTIA/Linux certs, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT/Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience leading technical root cause analysis and remediation on server/storage/networking hardware.
• CompTIA and Linux Certifications or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Experience with ConnectWise Manage, WebEx, ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

• Analyze tier-two service requests for HP, Dell, Lenovo, and Supermicro servers; extend support to storage/networking devices.
• Consult with clients to assess requirements and develop remediation plans; deliverables and next steps.
• Plan and execute hardware maintenance and component replacements; post-repair validation.
• Troubleshoot and replace server hardware components; ensure proper configuration and validation.
• Configure platform management functions (iLO, iDRAC, XCC, BMC); manage credentials and firmware updates.
• Maintain onsite spare-parts inventory; coordinate replenishment and stock.
• Process RMA returns and track to completion.
• Lead customer phone and remote-support sessions; coordinate resolution activities with customers/partners/backline support.
• Document diagnostic findings, corrective actions, validation evidence, and as-built configurations in service records.
• Develop knowledge articles; support special projects like new device installations or decommissions.
