Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Field Engineer I focused on structured cabling to support large-scale data center and low-voltage projects in New Albany, OH. This onsite role provides technical leadership, field support, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has experience with structured cabling, fiber optics, BOMs, and data center environments, with strong coordination and problem-solving skills. 6-month contract-to-hire with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience with structured cabling or low-voltage infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cable construction and industry standards.
• Experience reading cable schedules, drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Knowledge of material procurement and equipment coordination.
• Experience supporting data center projects or mission-critical environments.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, cable schedules, and project documents.
• Create shop drawings, project submittals, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and support to field teams during installation.
• Perform system verification, testing, inspections, and QA reviews.
• Conduct site assessments and field walks to evaluate requirements and risks.
• Support project managers during installation, commissioning, and closeout.
