Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Cable Technician to support installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling in commercial, industrial, and data center environments. The role emphasizes hands-on work with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and low-voltage systems in fast-paced projects.

The position is based in New Carlisle, IN, onsite, with contract-to-hire potential. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, operate ladders, and read drawings while maintaining safety and

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage installations.
• Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
• Knowledge of cable termination and testing procedures.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment.
• Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, secure, and label Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Install cable trays, J-hooks, conduits, ladder racks, and related structures.
• Terminate copper and fiber optic cabling to standards.
• Test and troubleshoot cabling with certification/testing equipment.
• Install patch panels, faceplates, racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
• Read blueprints, floor plans, and project drawings.
• Document installations and testing results.
• Dress and organize cable pathways for clean deployments.
• Follow OSHA and site safety requirements.
• Work independently and with project teams to meet deadlines.
