Job summary

South Texas College in Pharr, TX is seeking an onsite Program Assistant to support student success at the Centers for Learning Excellence. You will provide supplemental instruction, tutoring and assist with daily center operations, including online and in-person class support as assigned.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preference for college hours and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; college hours or certificate preferred.
• Must have earned at least a B in relevant coursework; A preferred.
• Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Windows and internet research.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks with deadlines.
• Security sensitive position: background check required.
• CRLA, ITTPC, or IMTPC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational assistance to students to improve comprehension and mastery.
• Help prepare workshops and materials to support coursework.
• Attend classes and lead study sessions onsite or online as scheduled.
• Guide students in diverse learning environments with feedback and practice.
• Integrate study strategies with course content.
• Attend lectures and model professional student behavior within program frames.
• Lead in-class discussions or activities as directed by instructors.
• Maintain records and lesson plans using required software and forms.
• Promote academic support services and resources at the center.
• Serve as liaison between faculty and staff to support student success.
• Participate in departmental training, workshops and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
