Job summary

Propio Language Services is seeking Onsite Contract Interpreters for the Detroit, MI metro area. Interpreters will provide consecutive interpretation between English and multiple languages on healthcare, education, and other settings, with remote support where applicable.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of professional interpreting experience, high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to travel to assignments. Independent contractor relationship; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and other languages for consecutive interpretation.
• Completion of language/interpreting proficiency evaluations.
• Résumé in English required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer/tech skills.
• Willingness to travel to onsite assignments.
• Health/immunization requirements per client/site.
• Background checks and/or drug screening may be required.
• 1+ year of professional interpreting experience.
• Relevant interpreter credentials or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and professional consecutive interpretation between English and all languages during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable.
• Follow interpreter protocols, professional standards, and client requirements.
• Comply with confidentiality, privacy, security, and assignment protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy and data-protection requirements (HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA).
• Maintain professional interactions with clients and participants.
• Maintain language proficiency and topic knowledge to perform assignments accurately.
